A Healthcare Facility for Everyone |
We held a formal blessing of our new 6,800 square foot facility last June. The ceremony featured speeches and dedications by board members and the executive leadership, a luncheon and guided tours of the new 6,800-square foot building. Guests were treated to a catered lunch of Hawaiian and Filipino dishes, desserts and light refreshments. Guests also enjoyed guided tours and meet-and-greet opportunities with medical and administrative staff. |

Welcome our New Dental Director |
Dr. Randy Kam has been named our new dental director. He will be the clinical leader for oral health, preventative and restorative dentistry services as well as collaborate with health center staff to develop oral health education programs.Dr. Kam’s expertise and experience will help us continue our mission to expand our public health approach to oral heal prevention. As a school based community health center, we’re dedicated to creating awareness and providing educational materials and demonstrations to students on Lanai through our ongoing Health Education Program.

New Fitness & Wellness Classes |
As part of our commitment to enrich the lives of community members, we’ve launched a series of fitness and wellness classes. Held in our Multipurpose Room, we’ve partnered with fitness instructors to provide complimentary classes such as:
- Zumba
- Yoga
- Boxing Fundamentals
- Youth Boxing Fundamentals
- Pilates
- Tai Chi
- Kung Fu

Million Hearts® Initiative |
Our health center is the only site in Hawaii that is selected for the CMS Million Heart Cardiovascular Disease risk reduction five-year study.Million Hearts® is a national initiative with an ambitious goal to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services co-lead the initiative on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Medical Assistant Recognized as Hawaii’s CDC Childhood Immunization Champion |
Our medical assistant, Chelsea Tadena was recognized for receiving Hawaiʻi’s CDC Childhood Immunization Champion Award, issued by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The immunization champion award is an annual award given by the CDC Foundation and CDC during National Infant Immunization Week to recognize individuals who make a significant contribution toward improving public health through their work in childhood immunization. |

Lanai Community Health Initiative |
As part of the Lanai Community Health Initiative (LCHI) Program we are working with individuals who received a grant and had a medical component to the list of their after school programs. This program works closely with the John A. Burns School of Medicine.The program is offered for 8th-12th graders and focused on students interested in healthcare careers. Students may have the opportunity to tour health facilities, visit universities and college campuses throughout the state of Hawaii as well as receive assistance with essays, research projects and personal resumes.
